Indian Sexist

the Med school summer program is in third week now. i had no idea the workload would be this overwhelming. i got a 50% on my first immuno exam because i didn't study enough and there was way more info and detail tested than i thought i'd ever have to memorize so i'm stepping it up a bit this week.

went to san francisco for fourth of july weekend and had a good time with my old roommates. My friends Roshni and Vinit got engaged and I got some lessons in Indian culture at their engagement party. Roshni looked really nice.

During the chit chat going on at the party, some indian fellow from UCLA was taking a poll: what's worse: a daughter who is a "whore" or a gay son.

i voted for the gay son, after all, who'd want their child to be a prostitute.

he then informed me that a whore in indian communities is any girl who opts for premarital sex.

i see... so we're back to the universal double standard... quite frankly, i'm disappointed. i expect this talk out of old people but fellow Bruin grads? come on... i mean if WE first generationers don't fix this nonsense up, then how is it ever going to get better? i mean, are THEIR kids going to keep their relationships with non-Indians a secret from them too when they are parents? are they going to have the same sexist and racist attitudes their parents carried here from India? what an idiot.

my answer: i guess i'd be happy with any child who has good self esteem. so niether child would be bad, as long as they're only having sex with people they love or at least for reasons other than low sel esteem or wierd psychosexual deviant tendencies... I love being a progressive.
