Brother Speak
The San Fernando Valley is not a very authentic place: they're actually still coping with the fact that they are a part of the city of Los Angeles. Like most not-authentic places, they don't have their own vernacular, so they rip it off of other places. Like the San Diego surfers or the urban gangsters or whatever is "hot" on TV and down the freeway in Hollywood at the moment.
Now if there is any place more not-authentic than the Valley, it's Orange County (NOT "the OC," no one calls it that or they didn't before that mindless Fox TV show). Orange County, especially Irvine, is so not-authentic that they even copy LA for their vernacular. Now since my brother hangs out (sorry, "rolls out") with these people, through his loud phone conversations, I can tell you some of the recent vocabulary:
1- Brao -- this is slowly replacing "dawg" as the best way to refer to your "roll-dawgs" or "buddies" as I know from before.
2- Hit me up (brao)! - This means, give me a call
3- Roll out - This means, "we'll go" or "let's go"
4- Bouncing outa here - Bounce is slowly replacing "peace out" as the official good bye or "let's go".
5- Aight - slowly replacing "alright," I think this one may be due to 50Cent's influence.
