Near-Death experience
i'm driving up to tahoe, we're in David's truck. i see the car ahead of us spin out of control and for five seconds i'm freaking out -- Oh my God, Ev's in that car and they're spinning out of control, I don't want this to end in a funeral-- but then suddenly they straighten out and it's all good.
Then, 10 seconds later, we spin out. I stayed calm despite everyone's predictions. I figured, so this is how i'm going to go down? Diving down a mountain in tahoe in a pick up truck in -0 temperature in the middle of the night in the snow? wow...
but then we crash into a road block. There was so much snow there that it cushioned the impact and both us and the car was unscarred.
Then we see our car can't back out of the snow we've crashed into and despite all the pushing it wasn't buging. Finally, as we were waiting for a AAA tow, a CHP officer came, got us to hook a tow cable to the frame of the car, and yanked it out of the snow for us. The other Dave, being the homy that he is, got under the car, untangled our chain, we rechained and arrived at tahoe.
The rest of the week had it's challenges: too much wind for skiing/snowboarding, power outages, lack of options for food. but in the end it was good times, well worth it. here's a view out of our condo's patio window. As you can see, it was truly a winter wonderland.
